This is an all-day automotive training session where you will learn how to read the on-board diagnostics equipment that is installed into most motor vehicles built after 1980.
The training course is aimed at anyone who would like to understand what the warning lights on their dashboard mean and how to fix the underlying problems. It is aimed at all motorists who would like to diagnose problems with their vehicle and either solve the issue themselves or discover exactly what work a garage needs to carry out.
The session will run in a working garage with 1 instructor for every 2 trainees. It is recommended that you bring your own car to enable us to access your vehicle’s engine control unit (ECU). We will check to see if you have any pending fault codes and discuss any problems identified.
On a typical training session you will be given the opportunity to work on 2 different cars. Your trainer will cover aspects including how to read and clear fault codes and performance information specific to your motor vehicle. You will examine the diagnostics kit which is frequently used in the automotive industry and also a bluetooth device that can be used at home, through a diagnostics app that is accessible on most smart phones. Using your own vehicle will allow you to see live data and potentially clear minor faults during the course. In total you will look at 10+ operating levels ranging from engine to wing mirror faults. Purchase of the bluetooth device and downloading the diagnostic app is inclusive in the course cost.
We recommended that everyone completing this automotive training course takes a hands on approach. However, this is not compulsory and you are welcome to learn through observing your instructor talking you through the various stages as they complete the work.
If you have any additional information you would like covered in the session please include details in your enquiry and we will do our best to accomodate your needs.
